let's face it

This is a personal thing. It's not the information being posted that has so many upset. It is the source. And the motive(real or imagined) for the postings.I don't think i'm saying anything out of line nor anything that most in here don't already realise.

I posted a rather long(for me) response yesterday and it was deleted(perhaps rightly so).In order to avoid being deleted again(i hope)..and because i said I would not comment about any one person(hoping i said"by name" ) I will refrain from mentioning names.

I would suggest that everyone reread the threads in here about how information is accepted and absorbed differently by different people.Whether the people who "know everything there is to know about bonsai" wish to acknowledge it or not.....personal knowledge, experience,RESULTS and a modicom of humility work wonders in having your ideas accepted.

In general...imho...multiple postings of what you have read,or what someone has told you,or what has always been done,or "everything there is to know on the internet" will tend to put people off,and not be listened to by people who have a bit of experience and knowledge of their own.

Wes(Redpine) had a great suggestion on another thread....just call it "all there is to know about bonsai" and make it one thread.Any additions could be made as edits.Or,as Matt started ..make it part of the wiki.

The information provided in these "everything" posts may be valuable to som,a curiousity to others.I spent the first 25-30 years of my bonsai life reading books and later on internet articles. It was a good foundation, but, in the end....asking questions and discussing trees with real people, knowledgeable people with some experience and successful bonsai is way more beneficial. That is what this forum is about to me.

respectfully
