Oddly enough the symptoms for over watering and under-watering are the same. This is because the problems exhibit themselves on the top of the tree and are the same both are due to lack of water. I know this sounds like a contradiction but what happens when a tree is undewatered the top starts to abandon foliage it can no longer support, it turns yellow and drops off. When a tree is over watered roots can rot and die. The result is the top no longer receives what it needs from dead roots and the top starts to abandon growth it can no longer support, it truns yellow and falls off. In the end the top of the tree dies from the same thing, not enough water the tree dies from the top down, over water the tree dies from the bottom up, but both are due to lack of water. This make any sence to you?
