Yet another dying juniper

Hello,
I have a "cascading juniper" bonsai tree that I purchased from a bonsai store about 4-5 months ago. I kept it indoors at my office for about 2 months (yes, I now know that was a very bad idea). I took it home and put it outside. When I went on vacation, my friend did not water it and it was pretty dry upon my return. I have been watering it regularly since then.

Anyway, about 2 weeks ago it started turning pale. It got very dry and crumbly for a few days (despite misting and watering). It is now completely pale green/brown except for a few patches of green on the underside. However, it is not crumbly anymore at all... it feels alive but looks dead/dying.

Any suggestions, I really do not want to give up hope. I am attaching 2 pictures for you to see.

Thanks,
Mario
