Newbie,
Falling leaves durring the growing season isn't a good thing but doesn't mean the tree is dead either. Reading back through the posts it sounds like you where just misting the soil and not watering the roots.
It depends on how dry the roots got and for how long they were in that condition whether the tree will live or not. An easy test is to scratch a little bark off the tree, down low on the trunk. If it is green and moist, the trunk is still alive and should put out new buds.
I would put it outside in bright light but not in direct sun and keep it watered as Matt told you. Maybe even put a little plastic tent over it to keep the humidity high.
