Ok, just finished my first attempt at completely wiring a tree...poor hinoki didn't cry too much. So here are my rules for beginners for extensive wiring. Those of you who've mastered this skill may disagree with some of these.

1. Don't wire in the sun
2. Don't wire with a parrot chewing on your ear, demanding attention
3. Don't wire with the parrot sitting on the tree, chewing on your wiring
4. No matter what height you set up the tree, it will be the wrong height for the next limb.
5. Do use a turntable
6. Caffiene does not help the wiring process
7. Alcohol does help the wiring process, at least until you look at the photos later
8. Pruning the fine limbs appropriately can set them up for easy wiring - lack of thoughtful pruning makes the wiring harder.
9. Don't wire in front of small children, or adults who are senitive to swearing
10. Have something on hand, aside from the tree (or the parrot), to throw in frustration
11. Don't try to wire the whole tree all at once
12. When finished, apologize to the tree for making it look like it got a bad haircut...promise to take it to a professional stylist next time
13. Never tell anybody you're going to wire your tree...they'll expect you to show it to them when you're done.
