Juniper Air Layering
Has anyone had any success air layering a juniper? I have a collected RMJ foundation planting that could post pictures of eventually, it is currently in the ground recovering from the severe root pruning that went into moving it.
It is showing a good deal of new growth so I am optimistic about its survival.
It does have a really long 1 inch thick branch at least 14 inches long coming out of near the current soil line. It has a few little sprigs of life at the end of it, plenty to turn it into a cool bunjin / literati style if I could air layer it.
This plant is around 50 years old, if I air layered it now is any chance of being able to sever it before winter. I'm afraid that an air layer with roots in it won't survive the cold Ohio winter?
Anyway advice greatly appreciated.
