Unhappy Styling Problems .

I am still some what of a beginer to the art of bonsai.I was wondering though did all you who are non-beginers, have problems styling some of your first trees? To me I will sit down and look at a tree and go okay 1st branch, 2nd branch so on and so forth but its like I am hitting a brick wall.I read books and have taken lessons but my trees that I style look "wierd". I was wondering if other people experenced this problem when it came time to style thier first trees.I have a elm that I know exactly what do do with it because I have a visual, it is like a guide as to what to do.When I don't have a visual is when I don't know what to do or looks bad if I do it.Well I could go on and on.I am having trouble wording this but if other people have had similiar problems they will know what I mean.Be honest even though I am hoping that everyone has experenced this problem to some degree. Thanks
