Around here, we are quickly corrected if we are at a club meeting and pronounce bonsai differently than the Japanese do. The Japanese say it "bone-sigh", with the accent on sigh. Although I do admit, when talking to family or friends it is just easier sometimes not to correct them.
I'm curious about the braiding maples video...why did the plane tree die? Was it choked out by the other maples? Isn't the littlest maple being rather hastily potted? Messing with the roots a bit to lay them out nicely, and putting the soil into the pot more gently and using a chopstick or other implement to settle it, would be a good visual to reinforce proper practices.
Are these "teasers" for us to buy a longer version later, or are the segments indeed this short?
