Beginner wiring mistake?!

After wrapping wire around the trunk of a boulevard cypress. I tryed to bend the main trunk. I was gripping the wire to hard up against the bark of the tree as I was bending. The end result was a tear in the bark.

1 - I should've used rafia!
2 - I should've taken a break after 3 1/2 hours instead of rushing!

With that said. And another lesson learned the hard way.
What can I do now to help this tree recover from this wound?

If you look close under the wire you will see the bunch of bark piled up.
