Hi all. I have had a great time reading all of your intros and decided to add my own before I sign off. I have been learning bonsai for about 15 years and I am still new at it. I have 3 Japanese maples, all different. 1 Chinese elm, 1 juniper (my very first one, natch), 1 pomegranate, 1 Trident maple, 1 katsura, 1 blue spruce, 1 plum, 1 Japanese snowbell,...........and I cannot remember the rest. Old age. But as you can see with what I did manage to remember, variety is the spice of life. I also collect old, old books on bonsai, even written in japanese, which for the life of me I can't read but the pictures are great.
I am a Master Gardener for Oregon State University and so I am also way into gardening in general. I have the most fun answering questions here in the pests and diseases catagory. I just learned how to turn on a computer about a year ago and am kicking myself for what I have been missing all this time. And yes, this is a great place to get information and help without anyone making you feel like an idiot. Oh........and I also have a Ficus benjamina. My one indoor bonsai. She is really cute.
Bye for now.
