Eddie.. the privet is extremely durable . I have collected them this time of year here in Va Beach and had no problem with little to no feeder roots and same on top end. Give it a shot of sun in the am and dappled during the day..
Depending on age of hedge you may have some nice nebari in there.. fused trunks, etc. enjoy...
